To seek or not to seek......

....a second opinion? I'm in need of some of YOUR opinions. Everyday I struggle with the outcome of Carson and Cooper's CVR surgery. Carson is 15 months post op, and this is what her head looks like now. The open spots are where her bone has not healed. I am a bit torn because there is no "cheat sheet" of what it's SUPPOSED to look like after 15 months. Do I seek out another specialist for a 2nd opinion? I hate feeling her head because of the ridges she has formed. Is that normal? Once again, there isn't a "cheat sheet" for that.

Here is Cooper's CT.

What's with the ridge in his forhead? I DON'T KNOW!!! And it is stressing me out!!! Should it be? I don't know - cause I don't know what NORMAL is at this point in the game. I am almost certain it's not this.

Ya know, if you're insurance will aid you some, I know I would seek a second opinion just for the peace of mind. Children's Hospital is a great institution, but maybe there is more? I feel your angst -- you just want to make sure you're doing the right thing by your children! Good luck with your decision!

I agree It never hurts to get a second opinion. Oh and also ask someone what normal looks like.

Trust your gut - if you aren't happy, go get another opinion. Can't hurt to have another experienced pair of eyes check them out!

I agree with what everyone just said. Take a copy of your medical records, and get a second opinion. It would be a good idea...

I always say if you don't feel like your getting the answers you need and your concerned to get a second opinion. If it was me and I had the concerns you do I would seek another opinion. If it's the same then you have peace of mind.
